Here at EarthMother Herbs,
USA (in Ghana, "EarthMother" is called Asase Yaa), in
addition to the unsurpassed quality of our single herbs, formulas,
Flower Essences and Homeopathics, we also offer Traditional African Medicine
(TAM). In TAM,
there is a prehistorically unbroken lineage. In other words, I
declare that I am Nana Yao Afo, Asafo; son of Nana Bosomtwi. My initiation into
Traditional African Medicine was through Nana Asonahene
Kwabena Afo. I was appointed an Herbalist of the Nana
Akonnedi Shrine in the Akan tradition on July 10, 1988 by Nana
Akomfohene Korantemaa Ayeboafo, and authorized by her teacher,
Nana Okomfohene Akua Oparebea ... TAM is spiritually based and divinely
intuitive. Among the Akan people, Herbalists are called
"Adinsinni". Nana Afo
is also the Executive Director of The EarthMother Institute, a NGO that
researches, teaches and documents indigenous herbs of the African continent and
diaspora. All appointees for traditional Akan herbalism must undergo training that lasts from three to seven years.
